Israel Weapons Industries ltd (since 2005) was established in 1933under the then name(Israeli Military Industries ltd)and is a multinational company specialized in the arms sector.

The Galil is a family of Israeli small arms designed by Israel Galil and Yaacov Lior, produced by Israel Military Industries (now Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd). It was introduced into service in 1972.
